The table is being set, piece by piece, for the 2014 NFL season.

And tonight, the NFL took the biggest step yet when they released the schedules for all 32 teams.  A moment that many fans wait for — for obvious reasons — this is when the distant future starts to clarify, and the memories of last season begin to fade.

So, pull up a chair to the table and get ready for a heaping of NFL football…

The Baltimore Ravens will begin their season at home against the Cincinnati Bengals, and the schedule doesn’t get any easier from there.  The schedule features six games against playoff teams from last season (Cincinnati x2, Carolina, Indianapolis, New Orleans and San Diego), however they also square off with teams who many expected to be in contention for the postseason at the outset of last year, and figure to be stiff competition in the coming season (Pittsburgh, Atlanta, Houston).

The 2014 season will feature three primetime games, and of course the Ravens and Steelers matchup will take two thirds of that tally.  Their first matchup comes in the first Thursday night game ever aired on CBS in Week 2, as Pittsburgh comes to M&T Bank Stadium.  The Ravens will also head to New Orleans in Week 12 to face off against Drew Brees for their lone Monday Night game.

Another great thing about this schedule is the Week 11 bye, which should give the Ravens a great opportunity to heal up after the first 10 weeks.  And they’ll have one extra day of rest, as that will lead up to the Monday Night matchup against the Saints.

You can find the full schedule below.

Oh, and you can bet that Steve Smith will be marking down September 28.
