Yesterday at long last the NFL’s 2014 schedule was released. The Seattle Seahawks will open the season by hosting the Green Bay Packers at CenturyLink Field on Thursday, September 4th.
Now that we know who’s coming to town, it’s time to start getting your ducks in a row for your fantasy team. Some people might say that prepping fantasy lineups four months before the season even begins when you don’t even know who will be on your team is insane. Those people clearly lead sad, little lives without the joy of fantasy football.
Looking ahead to our Week 1 matchup with the Packers, here are the top 5 starters you should consider.
Quarterback: Aaron Rodgers
I may catch some heat for this one but that’s ok. Russell Wilson is an excellent quarterback both in real life and in fantasy football, but he still has a ways to go to catch Mr. Rodgers. Last season Rodgers only finished 21st in quarterback scoring, but that’s due to the six weeks he missed with a separated shoulder. He also lost half his receiving corps to injury. When healthy Rodgers is still a top three fantasy QB. Before his injury in 2013 he scored in double digits every single game and he will be facing the weak secondaries of the NFC North two times.
Seattle’s defense is going to make things difficult, but he’s still good for at least 200 yards and a couple of touchdowns. Unless you’re also playing the Seahawks defense, start Rodgers and don’t look back.
