Top kicking specialists in the NFL draft: Can any help Carolina?


Kicker and punter aren’t necessarily the most glamorous positions or ones that get taken very highly, especially now that Al Davis has passed away. However, you can ask the 1990 Buffalo Bills, 2011 Baltimore Ravens, and many other teams how important having a solid kicker can be. The Carolina Panthers likely won’t use a pick on a kicker or a punter this year because Graham Gano and Brad Nortman are both young and good. With all the talk surrounding the defense and Cam Newton’s Pro Bowl season, many forgot that special teams was arguably Carolina’s strongest area. However, as solid as Gano was last year, he’s been inconsistent in the past, which is something general manager Dave Gettleman has in the back of his mind so if there’s a strong value, who knows?
