Do the Buffalo Bills need help at kicker or punter?

For the last ten years Buffalo Bills fans have only known two names when it came to Buffalo Bills kickers as Rian Lindell and Brian Moorman have been the safety net/backbone of this Bills special teams teams. When it came to place kicking, I always believed that Rian Lindell would be splitting the uprights. When it came to fourth down, I was always hoping that Brian Moorman would take off running and utilize his athleticism. Both of these players calmed the nerves of many uneasy fans throughout the years but over the past two seasons the Buffalo Bills have parted ways with both Moorman and Lindell. That insurance that was there is no more. The feeling of insecurity was a new feeling and an uncomfortable one.

In came Dustin Hopkins and Dan “the man” Carpenter. Hopkins had the job won, but an injury gave Carpenter a chance to prove himself. I had always liked Dan Carpenter as a Miami Dolphin for his strength and accuracy at distance. I was happy to see him maintain the starting position for the entire 2013 season. My confidence level in Carpenter is the same that it was for Lindell. I did not realize how young he is too! I could see Dan “the man” Carpenter as a Buffalo Bill for a long time. I don’t feel we need any help at the place kicker position especially with Hopkins as a backup. Plus, how can you not love that hair?

The main reason that Moorman was released in the first place was because he was beat out in training camp by the Rookie Shawn Powell. Thankfully the organization came to a swift conclusion that Moorman did not belong in Dallas, but back in Buffalo. After just one season, and a dreadful one at the Punting position for the Bills, Moorman rejoined the team. I think seeing Moorman leave was tough for Bills fans to swallow, and getting him back was a huge sigh of relief. His PUNT foundation is bringing joy to so many lives in the Western New York area. He enriches the lives, proving smiles and experiences for patients struggling with cancer. What is there not to love about Brian Moorman? If you ask me, he could punt for fourteen more years for the Bills! The Buffalo Bills should focus their efforts on firming up the offensive line or secondary before considering picking up any kicker. It would be a waste, we have that confidence back.
