35 is not just a number to the Denver Broncos. To fans and players, the number brings a horrific memory of the 35-point loss to the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl XLVIII.
But 35 is no longer just a source of embarrassment. It’s become a source of offseason motivation.
The team is looking to come back stronger after last season’s devastating loss, and the motivation is seen in the offseason with chants of “35” ringing throughout the training room.
“Whenever someone gets tired, you just say ’35,’ and they just start picking it up again,” defensive end Malik Jackson said. “We know we have to come back strong this year. We had a disappointing loss. But that’s last season. We’re ready to move on.”
