Will the Cincinnati Bengals trade up for Justin Gilbert?

With all the talent in this year’s draft, The Cincinnati Bengals have many options to choose from. But the team’s number one priority for this offseason is to upgrade their secondary.

Luckily the Cincinnati Bengals will have an chance to jump up the board to snag, arguably the most talented defensive back of the entire draft, Justin Gilbert. Gilbert is a purely gifted athlete. Standing at 6’0 204 lbs, The Oklahoma State cornerback registered a 4.3 forty yard dash at the NFL Combine. That time was tops for all CBs. When you throw in the fact that the Texas native pulled off the third best, 20 bench press reps, at the cobine as well; immediately you will notice the versatility that NFL scouts are raving about. And did I mention, Gilbert hauled in seven interceptions in his last year of collegiate ball.┬áIf Marvin Lewis and Bengals’ Owner/General Manager, Mike Brown, are willing to make the necessary moves to acquire Justin Gilbert, the benefits would far exceed the cost.

The St. Louis Rams may be Cincinnati’s best trade option. The Rams have the second and thirteenth picks in the draft. In terms of draft picks, the Rams need quantity over quality. Meaning, it may be best for the franchise to trade their high selections in order to have more selections. A trade between them and the Cincinnati Bengals could be a great move for both teams. Cincinnati would give up their first round choice and either a third or fourth rounder. In return the Bengals would get St. Louis’ thirteenth overall pick. Which they would spend on Justin Gilbert, or the best available DB.
