Who did the New York Jets select in cover32’s mock draft 4.0?

You San Francisco 49ers ruin everything.

San Francisco moves up to No. 17 in cover32’s mock draft 4.0 and snatches the New York Jets’ top choice. LSU receiver Odell Beckham Jr., right out of their hands. But Gang Green still is set on grabbing a receiver with the top two corners already off the board.

So with the No. 18 pick in the 2014 mock NFL draft, the New York Jets select:

Cody Latimer (WR | Indiana) – With the wideout they wanted off the board, the Jets will move to the next one on their list, settling for Latimer at No. 18. It’s a bit of a reach, but New York will have trouble changing course after thinking WR for so long.

Latimer is a 6-foot-3, 215-pound receiver, who ran a 4.44 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine. He has the speed and size to be an NFL receiver and is actually considered to be a decent route-runner, but some scouts question his ability to hit a second gear after the catch. At Indiana, though he could find ways to get open, he was prone to drops, but the problem with picking a receiver like Brandin Cooks comes in size. Cooks just well under six feet. Latimer, however, has the prototypical size and speed to be a No. 1 NFL receiver.
