The Atlanta Falcons war room exercised patience and stayed put at number six overall. They were rewarded with arguably the most pro-ready prospect in the draft, Jake Matthews.
Matthews will be expected to step in at either left or right tackle from day one and help upgrade an offensive line that ranked near the bottom last season.
Matt Ryan was hit a career high 203 times last year and the Falcons finished last in rushing.
Steven Jackson took to twitter to welcome his new teammate.
I love this pick ! Enjoy tonight Jake Matthews, congrats, this fall we have work to do!

Currently, Matthews enter training camp as the favorite to man the right tackle position with Sam Baker returning from injury. Matthews played both positions at an elite level while at Texas A&M and he will bring a swagger that seemed lost in 2013.
His nimble footwork, power, bloodlines and high football IQ will make him an immediate starter and a fixture on the offensive line for years to come.
