The Cleveland Browns may be without all-pro wide receiver Josh Gordon due to a possible season-long suspension, but the news did not deter the Cleveland Browns front office from drafting offensive tackle Joel Bitonio with the third pick of the second round in the 2014 NFL Draft Friday.
Less than 24 hours ago the Browns drafted the notorious quarterback Johnny Manziel with the 22nd pick and Cleveland fans showed their appreciation by buying more than 1,500 season tickets later that night. Now, however, the visions many hopeful Browns fans have been turned to frustration.
ESPN’s “Outside the Lines” reported Friday that Gordon is facing a season-long suspension after failing a drug test months ago for marijuana.
An updated ESPN article reported that the Browns owner Jimmy Haslam and general manager Ray Farmer had full knowledge of Gordon’s pending status for the drug test, while the Browns coaching staff first heard of the news from a news report.
Gordon is coming off one of the greatest wide out seasons in Browns history after torching opposing defenses with 87 receptions, 1646 receiving yards and nine touchdowns in only 14 games, due to being suspended for the first two games.
