The Cleveland Browns may be without all-pro wide receiver Josh Gordon due to a possible season-long suspension, but the news did not deter the Cleveland Browns front office from drafting offensive tackle Joel Bitonio with the third pick of the second round in the 2014 NFL Draft Friday.

Less than 24 hours ago the Browns drafted the notorious quarterback Johnny Manziel with the 22nd pick and Cleveland fans showed their appreciation by buying more than 1,500 season tickets later that night. Now, however, the visions many hopeful Browns fans have been turned to frustration.

ESPN’s “Outside the Lines” reported Friday that Gordon is facing a season-long suspension after failing a drug test months ago for marijuana.

An updated ESPN article reported that the Browns owner Jimmy Haslam and general manager Ray Farmer had full knowledge of Gordon’s pending status for the drug test, while the Browns coaching staff first heard of the news from a news report.

Gordon is coming off one of the greatest wide out seasons in Browns history after torching opposing defenses with 87 receptions, 1646 receiving yards and nine touchdowns in only 14 games, due to being suspended for the first two games.

    • Stefan

Got the world by the balls, outstanding talent, but what a loser. He can’t stop smoking pot in risk of a career. Another disappointing athlete. What a waste.

  • Roy

I agree kick his but from the NFL for life and let the asshole go back to his ghetto ways!!

  • willie

What does that say for the Browns staff when they knew what was going on with Gordan
and still passed on drafting Sammy Watkins. What assholes.

    • Tom

Agree with Willie. Not a wide receiver taken by the Browns in draft rich with quality receivers. Who will be the Browns Number #1 receiver in 2014?

  • Jer

WTF? Pot should legal anyway NFL rules on this are outdated. Majority of players and the public are in favor of it. It’s been known to help alleviate pain. Much safer than the “legal” meds they’re taking now.

It’s a shame he couldn’t have been smarter, I guess the Browns curse is alive and well in Cleveland

Cant figure out why Farmer and Haslem didnt give the rest a heads up on the Gorden issue. Ban Gorden for life, he isnt playing like a Brown. On the flip side of things, we did sign 3 wide recievers as undrafted free agents. Hopefully we find one close to Gordon production without all the drama.
