Five things you need to know about the Carolina Panthers 3rd round pick Trai Turner

The Carolina Panthers made their third-round selection on Friday night, taking Trai Turner out of LSU. In the coming months, there will be plenty of coverage of the newest member of the Panthers. But in the meantime, here are five things to know about the former LSU guard:

1. He was named to the 2011 PrepStar All-America team.

2. He started seven games in 2012 for LSU after redshirting his freshman year; ranking second on the team in knockdowns despite only starting those seven games.

3. He started all 13 games for LSU in 2013, en route to second team All-SEC honors. Turner was instrumental in Jeremy Hill’s 1,400 yard season and LSU’s school record 37 rushing touchdowns.

4. He finished his career with 115 knockdowns on 1,416 snaps in two seasons.

5. Turner ran the 40 in 4.93 seconds, the fastest of any interior lineman. He was third overall for all offensive linemen, behind first round picks Taylor Lewan and Greg Robinson.
