What you need to know about the Panthers new cornerback Bené Benwikere

The Carolina Panthers made their fifth-round selection on Saturday afternoon, taking Bené Benwikere out of San Jose State. In the coming month, there will be plenty of coverage of the newest member of the Panthers. But in the meantime, here are five things to know about the cornerback:

1. Dave Gettleman gave up the 168th pick (fifth round) and the 225th pick (seventh round) to move up to the 148th pick and take Benwikere

2. Benwikere holds or shares San Jose State records for career interceptions (14) and consecutive games with an interception (four)

3. In 2012, Louisiana Tech quarterback Colby Cameron had five interceptions. Three of them were in one game to Benwikere.

4. He had the second highest vertical leap of any cornerback in the draft, clearing 40.5 inches with his jump

5. He also has experience playing special teams as a gunner and a jammer
