Quotable Monday: Luke Kuechly comments on the athleticism of NASCAR drivers

Carolina Panthers’ linebacker Luke Kuechly has been pretty busy since winning Defensive Player of the Year. He took a break from his busy schedule to test drive one of Chip Ganassi’s cars and came away with a new perspective on NASCAR drivers.

“After the first couple of times we went around the track, I was holding the wheel going around the turn and was, ‘Man! Your forearms get a little sore,” said Kuechly. “It’s a different kind of athlete. They’re not running around, cutting around, but they’re strong and have endurance.”

The former Boston College standout admitted, “I’ll give it to them. They’re athletes in their own respect.”
