Aldon Smith reportedly enters plea bargain for DUI and weapons charges

Aldon Smith pleaded “no contest” to three felony weapons charges and misdemeanor DUI as part of an apparent plea deal Wednesday in Santa Clara County Superior Court, according to multiple reports.

From San Jose Mercury News courts reporter Tracey Kaplan:

Smith could face no time in custody to a maximum of four years and four months of jail time, prosecutors said per The Associated Press. Smith pleaded not guilty to three felony counts of illegal possession of an assault weapon In November. The DUI charge stemmed from a September arrest in San Jose, California. That led Smith to voluntarily enter a treatment center for substance abuse and miss five games.

In a separate incident, Smith could be facing misdemeanor charges for his April 13 incident at Los Angeles International Airport. The L.A. City Attorney’s office has yet to formally charge him.
