Cam Newton and Luke Kuechly are finalists for the Madden cover — bad news?

The Carolina Panthers have not one, but two finalists for the Madden cover vote. Both Cam Newton and Luke Kuechly are among the top 8 in the EA Sports Madden cover vote. Not bad for the first two first-round picks of the Ron Rivera era. The question is if Panthers fans want this because of the “Madden cover curse.” For those unfamiliar with the negative history, here are some notable victims of the curse:

-Daunte Culpepper 2002: Threw 23 interceptions and the Minnesota Vikings went 5-11

-Marshall Faulk 2003: Never had 1,000 rushing yards in a season again

-Michael Vick 2004: Broke his fibula in the pre-season and the Atlanta Falcons went 5-11

-Shaun Alexander 2007: Missed six starts due to a foot injury and never returned to his MVP form again

Well Drew Brees and Calvin Johnson went off the year they got theirs but that’s 2 examples. Plus they are young, I don’t have a problem with it.
