Horseshoe Mailbag: Post draft issues for the Colts

The NFl draft is over, and rookie minicamp has ended for the Indianapolis Colts. Just a few months separate Andrew Luck and Peyton Manning reuniting on the gridiron, something Colts fans have been drooling about all offseason.

With more OTA’s coming up, training camp. and preseason games before the season starts, it gives the Colts time to improve from a team that was run through, around, and over in the divisional round of the playoffs. The desperation for the Colts to improve on the defensive side of the ball was never bigger. Enter our question of the week from a fan.

Biggest issues for Colts now that the draft is over?

They made a quick splash in the offseason with signing Arthur Jones and D’Qwell Jackson to sure up the front seven on defense.

A few other re signings and the release of a few players, and the Colts still had a few questions left before the draft.

Many experts thought the Colts would target safety and offensive line in the draft after the loss of Antoine Bethea, and the need to product Luck. The Colts would take Jack Mewhort with their first pick in the second round, and would leave the weekend without taking someone to fill their void at strong safety.

So the answer still is finding the void left behind by Bethea. It seems for now the Colts will turn to their own roster and try to find a replacement to stepup. Sergio Brown or Colt Anderson could be the answers, although neither have been put in the role yet.
