Plenty of Bears and Brandon Marshall love

Last week the Bears gave Brandon Marshall a three-year extension worth $23 million guaranteed.  During the press conference, there was no shortage of love being passed around from Marshall and the Bears brass.

General manager Phil Emery said he was “ecstatic” to have Marshall around for the remainder of his career. Emery then went on to praise Marshall on his growth and development as a person.

“This is a man that has grown every day,” Emery said. “Every time we have a conversation and engage each other, I just see his growth as a person. I see a very thoughtful, engaging, giving person; somebody that reaches out to others and through reaching out to others has grown himself.”

Marshall thinks very highly of head coach Marc Trestman.

I’ve played for some great coaches,” Marshall said. “Coach [Mike] Shanahan was a great coach, X’s and O’s, one of the best in the business. What I’m about to say about coach [Trestman] has nothing to do with football: Best in the business. So thankful that you’re here, coach. Coach is amazing. He’s a man that I look up to. He’s a man that I would like to be one day.”

He didn’t stop there as he views Emery and Trestman as two men who can turn things around for the Bears.

“The culture that he’s forming here with the help of Phil [Emery] and the McCaskeys and everyone upstairs, I’ve never been around it. He puts us in position every single day to grow as men. To be honest, I don’t think we would be sitting here if it wasn’t for coach and me believing in him and his coaching staff. He’s a man’s man. He knows how to lead alpha males.”
