Jacksonville Jaguars’ Gus Bradley ‘peeved’ with Chris Clemons’ absence from OTAs

During free agency, the Jacksonville Jaguars really targeted the defensive line, making sure they upgraded the pass rush that was one of the worst in the league in 2013.

Now, one of those free agent acquisitions, defensive end Chris Clemons, according to a report, has ‘peeved’ head coach Gus Bradley. No matter how big or how small, Bradley isn’t the type of person I want to ‘peeve’.

Clemons was the lone player out of 90 who missed the entire first two days of Organized Team Activities. Actually, Clemons hasn’t been at the team’s facilities since signing his contract back in the middle of March.

The team did know that Clemons would be absent from the initial phase of the off-season conditioning program that kicked off in late April due to some family issues that he’s resolving. What the team, and Bradley, didn’t know, was that he wouldn’t be in attendance at the start of OTA’s — that’s what has Bradley, who did eventually speak with Clemons, ‘peeved.’

“It’s day-to-day. I did have a good conversation with him. I feel much better about it. It’s unfortunate, I wish he was here, but I understand the reasoning. I didn’t have as clear of reasoning yesterday and that’s why I wanted to find out, but now I understand.” – Gus Bradley on if Clemons would practice with the team tomorrow

When asked what the reasoning was, Bradley simply said, “it’s personal.”

For a new player who is pegged by most, myself included, to be a starter and a leader of the defensive unit and the team, this is not the right way to start off. We’ll see what happens and if Clemons is able to right his ‘wrong doings’ if that’s what you want to call them.
