The first overall pick of the 2014 NFL draft, Jadeveon Clowney, had sports hernia surgery today and will be out until training camp, the Houston Chronicle reports.
Bill O’Brien reports that he will miss minicamp, but should be ready to go next month when training camp begins. Clowney was apparently dealing with a groin injury that wouldn’t go away, so he decided to have the surgery.
This should be no concern for Houston Texans fans, as Clowney’s injury wasn’t too severe, and as the reports mention, he’s likely going to be ready to return in a month.
It was a smart decision for Clowney, who should never try to play through an obviously annoying injury. We can hope for a safe, speedy and successful recovery.
