Bengals release runningback Jeff Scott

The Bengals’ OTAs wrapped up on Tuesday of this week, and for running back Jeff Scott, so did his time as a Bengal. The team put him on waivers yesterday bringing the roster size down to 89 and freeing up an additional 418,000 dollars in their salary cap.

Scott, an Ole Miss grad, signed with the team a little over a month ago as an undrafted free agent.

His release was not unexpected due to the excessive number of running backs on the Bengals’ roster (with his release, they now have six).

During OTAs he was primarily returner, which he dabbled in at Ole Miss.

His successful career at Ole Miss made him the fourth best RB in school history with 3,668 all purpose yards.

The question now becomes, who will be the next running back to go. With six still on the roster, the team will certainly consider cutting that number down to five.
