Quotable Monday: Drew Brees picking sides in the Jimmy Graham controversy

It’s a basic principle.

If two of your friends are fighting, you stay out of it unless you’re willing to lose one of those friends. Two friends are fighting in New Orleans, and with millions of dollars at the center of the debate and the state of a NFL franchise hanging in the balance it would make sense for all those NOT involved to stay out of it.

Drew Brees didn’t get the memo.

Bleacher Report says¬†Brees told reporters¬†“Look at our numbers over the last eight years, we’ve had a lot of different guys in there. Jimmy’s only been here four years. He’s only been here half the time. We were putting up some pretty big numbers before he got here, and we’ve been putting up some big numbers since he’s been here.”

Brees is establishing himself pretty staunchly in an anti-Graham position – surprising considering just how beneficial having Graham on the field truly has been for Brees and the Saints’ offense at large.
