Does Calais Campbell belong on the NFL’s Top 100 Players of 2014?

If you ask that question to Chris Wesseling of, the answer is a resounding yes. Calais Campbell wound up at number two on his list of the 10 biggest snubs from the list, trailing Atlanta’s Matt Ryan.

From the article:”Perhaps the one player in today’s game most similar to former Patriots All-Pro Richard Seymour, Campbell slides around Todd Bowles’ defensive line, terrorizing quarterbacks and shutting down the running game. On a defense with big names such as Patrick Peterson, Daryl Washington, Darnell Dockett and Karlos Dansby, Campbell was the most dominant player.”

It’s hard for a 6-foot-8 man to be overlooked but that’s exactly what happened here. Fellow defensive lineman Sheldon Richardson of the Jets made at the 95th spot in the Top 100 but that easily could have been Campbell’s spot.

Julio Jones of the Falcons was omitted from the list but missed a good chunk of the season after breaking a screw in his foot.

The bottom five of the Top 100 list was Daryl Washington (despite being suspended the first four games), Louis Vasquez, Jason Witten, Jordan Cameron and Matthew Stafford.

Dansby also made the snub list in the seventh spot.
