By now, everyone in the world of sports knows that Atlanta Falcons linebacker Sean Weatherspoon suffered an injury to his Achilles heel and will be out for all of the 2014 season. The biggest concern most have mentioned, is that the Falcons have lost a key leader on defense. This leaves fellow linebackers Paul Worrilow and Joplo Bartu suddenly grabbing hold of the leadership reigns. Nevertheless, Weatherspoon can play a significant part in helping both Worrilow and Bartu make the transition into their new roles. How so?
Players placed on injured reserve sometimes tend to be MIA in the locker room. Weatherspoon, however, is little different. Because he is such a vocal person, a natural born leader, it’s no wonder Worrilow feels he will still be able to talk with and gain plenty of insight from him this summer. Worrilow even told one radio station that he fully expects Weatherspoon will continue to be at meetings and that he will also be around to talk football with during the season.
With Worrilow and Bartu preparing to step up and be true leaders on defense, as stated on most sports news sites, the Falcons truly have nothing to worry about; especially with Weatherspoon eagerly helping them both along the way.
