Running back preview: can LeSean McCoy win MVP?

The Philadelphia Eagles will open training camp in less than two weeks. To help get you ready for the coming season we’ll be previewing a new position on the roster each day. Next up is the running back position; a position for the Eagles that is loaded with both talent and excitement.

LeSean McCoy

LeSean McCoy has already solidified himself as arguably the best running back in the game, and to many, he currently is the best. McCoy was named the 5th best player out of the NFL Network’s Top 100 Players of 2014 rankings.

Eagles wide receiver Jeremy Maclin told NFL Network:

“The things that he does on the field are just ridiculous. He can turn a five yard loss into a 60 yard touchdown. He can catch the ball out of the backfield. He showed this year that he can stick his head down there and get tough yards, and he’s emerging as a leader. And I think that’s the type of guy you want around your team.”

McCoy had an incredible 2013 season. The 26-year old finished the year with 314 rushing attempts for 1,607 yards and nine touchdowns, and also won the 2013 NFL Rushing Title. His best game last season came in Week 13 against the Detroit Lions. Shady ran for 217 yards in the snow that day and finished with two touchdowns.

So what’s next for “Shady” McCoy? Well, let’s just say he’s ready to win that MVP award.
