Time and time again, when anyone in the Jacksonville Jaguars organization is asked if they really plan on sticking to the plan in place when it comes to rookie quarterback Blake Bortles, you hear the same answer, “yes.”
While at Nike’s The Opening, Bortles said that he agrees with the team’s decision to let him sit and learn behind Chad Henne. Bortles also said that he needs to be ready to go if called upon.
“I think you have to have the mindset that you have to go out and compete every day. You want to be the guy. In my situation, whenever my number is called, I want to be ready to go and execute the offense just like Chad would. That’s my goal, to make sure I’m prepared and ready and continuing to get better.” – QB Blake Bortles
Some say that Bortles will start Week 8, other say it will come around Thanksgiving and then there are those with a glimmmer of hope that he starts come Week 1 in Philadelphia.
Me personally, I think once the team no longer has a shot at the playoffs, that is when Bortles will start — as long as Henne doesn’t go down for the season.
