Training camp watch, Dolphins to keep an eye on

With the start of training camp and the NFL season right around the corner I thought that it’d be fun to look at a few players; One that will shine this season, one that will regress, and another that could be a deep sleeper.

I had two players in mind for my first spot. Jimmy Wilson and Lamar Miller. The obvious answer for most would be Jimmy Wilson, the 7th round pick out of Montana in the 2011 draft, who has been progressing every season since he’s been in the league.

Well, I took the road less traveled and chose Lamar Miller as my player that will shine this season. Many may laugh and mock this pick but I think (and hope) last season was a fluke for Miller. He had a ton of pressure and expectations put on him with the departure of Reggie Bush. Not to mention the sorry excuse of an offensive line he had to run behind. I believe this season will prove different for Miller as Bill Lazor takes over along with a revamped offensive line.

This was a very hard one for me. The player I picked to regress this season is Brian Hartline. I don’t think that Hartline will get back to 1,000 yards this season or score as many touchdowns as we’d like him to. Brian Hartline is a fan favorite but he’s non-existent in the red zone and coming off of his knee injury I’m just not very confident in him producing a third straight 1,000 yard season.

For my deep sleeper(s) I dug deep and picked two players at the same position. Defensive tackles Isaako Aaitui and A.J. Francis. These two players were preseason standouts, Aaitui in 2012 and Francis in 2013. With the departure of Paul Soliai there’s a gaping hole in the middle of the defensive line, literally, and one of these two monsters can help to fill the void especially since Earl Mitchell is like half the size of Soliai.
