Oddsmaker puts Jaguars as underdogs vs. every 2014 opponent

When you finish 4-12 in one of the weaker divisions in the NFL you probably shouldnt expect to get a whole lot of respect, but this next one is a definite head-scratcher. According to a report by Ryan O’Halloran of the Florida Times-Union, one oddsmaker has listed the Jacksonville Jaguars as underdogs against every single team they will play in 2014.

Here’s the odds that CG Technologies gave the Jags in each game:

+11 at Philadelphia

+9 at Washington

+6 vs. Indianapolis

+10 at San Diego

+6.5 vs. Pittsburgh

+7 at Tennessee

+2.5 vs. Cleveland

+4 vs. Miami

+11 at Cincinnati

+10 vs. Dallas in London

+12 at Indianapolis

+5.5 vs. NY Giants

+4 vs. Houston

+10.5 at Baltimore

+3 vs. Tennessee

+10 at Houston

I can understand most of these, but a few of them make me wonder what kind of methodology they’re using. Most egregious of all is the 2.5 underdogs against CLEVELAND? I can only assume that someone over at CG got confused and assumed Lebron James will be suiting up for the Browns that week. I’m not an oddsmaker but I would put the Jags as six point favorites against the Browns at home.

Other questionable odds I see here are Week 14 against Houston and Week 9 against Miami.

Well, if the Jags were looking for bulletin board material going into training camp, they’ve certainly got it now.
