He’s baaaack. That’s right, after many long months of rehabbing a broken foot, Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones is returning to the field. According to a report in the Atlanta Journal Constitution, Jones has been cleared to join training camp. Here’s what head coach Mike Smith told D. Orlando Ledbetter:
“Our number one goal is to make sure that we’ve got everybody as healthy as we possibly can be, but we know that we have to get these guys some work together and reps. Julio will be out there participating in practice right from the start.”
This comes as great news for Falcons fans just prior to the start of training camp.
Without Jones Atlanta struggled mightily during the 2013 season. Jones played in the first five games, tallying 580 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Atlanta lost four of those contests though and went on to finish 4-12, which earned them last place in the NFC South.
Over the two seasons prior to his injury Julio averaged over 1,000 receiving yards and nine touchdowns.
