Breaking: Rob Gronkowski is cleared to practice for the New England Patriots

Today, the Patriots got some huge news: Rob Gronkowski has officially been cleared to practice.

“He’s been here,” coach Bill Belichick said. “He would be ineligible to (appear on PUP list) because he’s been cleared to play.”

While this wasn’t completely unexpected, it’s still really great to hear. It not only means that Gronk will be able to work with the team all throughout training camp, it means that he should be able to suit up for game one.

Since tearing his ACL and MCL against the Cleveland Browns in Week 14 last season, nobody has really known what Gronk’s timetable for recover would be, especially coming off of an offseason where forearm and back injuries constantly shrouded his year in speculation and doubt.

“Rob has always worked hard,” said Belichick. “He worked hard as a rookie, so he has always worked hard when he’s here.”

His teammates are excited to have him back, too.

“Gronk is Gronk,” said defensive end Rob Ninkovich. “He’s ‘Yo soy fiesta.’ Gronk is a great player and personality—wise he’s one of the best guys in the locker room. … He’s a great player and he’s one of the hardest-working guys I’ve ever been around.”

Expect a lot of “Gronk Spikes” this season.
