Nick, we’re under seven weeks to the start of the regular season and Training Camp kicks off tomorrow … I’m so excited I can barely contain myself! Which unit are you most interested in watching during the Training Camp sessions? – Anxious Andy, Alexandria
Andy, deep breaths friend – we’re almost there.
The answer to your question is a relatively easy one: the wide receivers.
The Saints recognized wide receiver as an area of need this offseason, specifically an area that they needed to get younger in. They released Lance Moore during their veteran cutting-spree, and traded up in the first round to grab Brandin Cooks out of Oregon State to address that need.
This group of wide outs is one of the more athletic units in the entire NFL, and with the presence of Jimmy Graham inside and Marques Colston outside it stands to reason that some of these smaller, shiftier guys will have acres of space to run around in.
I wrote a preview about the wide receiver position, which you can read here, but I’ll summarize it for you: this group is fun, energetic, and stocked with talent. With Drew Brees orchestrating the offense, there’s no telling just how dangerous this unit can be.
