Overall, the Houston Texans have had a week without huge news, other than the fact that Andre Johnson has finally joined the team at practice facilities after reportedly requesting a trade, and missing offseason workouts and mandatory minicamp.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter tweeted that the team never had plans to trade him. However, the Houston Texans haven’t made the official decision on whether Johnson is definitely staying or not.
Although it’s great news that Johnson finally did show up to join the team, after it looked like a trade was imminent, the Johnson saga is still a team distraction. The Texans can’t let things like this get out of hand, especially in a new era with a new head coach, new starting quarterback and new draft picks.
Sooner or later, the team has to announce whether they’re definitely keeping him this season or if they’ll explore trade options, so that they can put this behind them and move forward.
