Packers and Nelson agree on contract extension

Yesterday I wrote about my belief that Jordy Nelson is an elite wide receiver in the NFL, and that he deserved the $10 million a year that he had reportedly asked for. Well, today the Packers proved me right, or at the very least backed up my opinion and showed their own belief that Nelson is worth the money.

Nelson and the Packers have agreed to terms on a four year contract extension worth $39 million, including an $11.5 million signing bonus. The 29 year old receiver is coming off his best year as a pro with 85 catches for over 1300 yards, both career highs, and did so in a season that saw him without his number one quarterback for half the season.

With Rodgers back and healthy and Nelson in his comfy new contract, the sky is the limit for #12 to #87.

Up next for the Packers now will be figuring out a way to keep Randall Cobb in the green and gold.
