Injury bug bites Dallas Cowboys defense at training camp

Injuries play a role every NFL season whether you like it or not, but the Dallas Cowboys’ defense is getting bit hard this year. Already missing inside linebacker Sean Lee for the season, the Cowboys had three defensive players go down with injuries at practice on Sunday.

Some were minor, others may see the player miss an extended period of time. To recap, here’s what happened to each.

Terrell McClain: rolled his ankle and was carted off the field. It’s not clear how severe it was at this point but it doesn’t sound serious.

Devonte Holloman: left practice after suffering from dehydration. He is expected back tomorrow.

Jeff Heath: hurt his hand and had to leave practice early but later returned.

Matt Johnson: pulled his hamstring (again) – we don’t know how long he may be out but this may sink him.

Bruce Carter also briefly left the field but came back later.

At this rate the Cowboys aren’t going to have anybody to fill in and be the “next man up.”
