The Houston Texans ran a successful third day training camp session, according to analyst John Harris.
Harris, who shared his “24 observations” from Day 3, Among them, free agent newcomer Jerrell Powe;s strength really impressed Harris at training camp, and “placed Chris Myers into the lap of the quarterback,” before Myers was able to to reset quickly and stop him.
Also, Derek Newton and Jared Crick had very good one-on-one pass-rushing practices, and they’ve looked very impressive thus far.
With Arian Foster dealing with a minor undisclosed injury, sixth-round selection and rookie Alfred Blue also played well; ran very hard and fast while taking plenty of reps. This should be good early news for the Texans. If Foster has problems staying healthy, perhaps they can count on the rookie to play well in his absence.
Randy Bullock also kicked a “cannon” in practice and was forced to close it out by hitting a 50-plus yard field goal after he had missed an attempt.
Overall, it looks like practice went well for the Texans, and the players are looking very comfortable thus far and certain players are surprisingly impressing this early.
