Gone Camping: What we learned from Denver Broncos’ summer scrimmage

Saturday unofficially marks the return of Denver Broncos football.

Sure, it was only a practice — the summer scrimmage, to be exact — but this was live action, in pads, inside the Broncos’ home of Sports Authority Field at Mile High Stadium.

And some 30,000-plus Broncos backers showed up to New Mile High Saturday to cheer on Peyton Manning leading the first-team offense against the second-team defense, and Brock Osweiler calling out cadences for the second-team O versus the first-team D.

Julius Thomas sat out of the scrimmage, leading to Tamme’s touchdown. Why was Thomas out? A thigh bruise that isn’t serious.

    Like Heath said. That about sums it up. Offense was great. Defense is no better than it was last year. Come Thursday, they could get their bell rung just like last year. Only difference is now we have no running back.
