Expectations for the Cincinnati Bengals this year are extremely high. So high in fact that it might lead one to wonder if the coaching staff is on something.
Speaking with NFL reporter Albert Breer, Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis gave a huge vote of confidence for his embattled quarterback Andy Dalton. When Breer asked if he believed Dalton could win a playoff game, Lewis went a whole lot further:
“No question. I feel Andy is the quarterback that can lead this team into the playoffs, through the playoffs, and win the ultimate game. When he does that, everyone will shut up.”

As crazy as that may sound it actually may not be that much of a stretch. Cincinnati boasts one of the deepest rosters in the league. The only real weak spot has been at the quarterback position. If Dalton makes a leap forward in his development in 2014 there’s a good chance that the Bengals can make a deep postseason run.
What do you think? Is Lewis setting the bar too high for Dalton? Or is a Lombardi Trophy really within reach?
