On Friday night the New Orleans Saints will open their pre-season schedule in St. Louis against the Rams, which means that real live honest-to-God football is getting so close that we can almost smell it. The position battles are now in their most heated stage as the team is getting ready to make its decision about the final 53 man roster.
Today the Saints released a preliminary depth chart on their website. Here’s how head coach Sean Payton sees the offense shaping up:
Apparently the Saints have decided to just play four offensive linemen and not bother with a center. Perhaps they’ll line up another wide receiver. It’s a bold move, unprecedented in the NFL. I like it.
