Chicago Bears add another very tall weapon to wide receiver corps

When it comes to wide receivers, the Chicago Bears either go big or go home.

On the heels of yesterday’s news that Marquess Wilson could be out for a couple months with a fractured clavicle, the Bears went out and added yet another very tall weapon to their wide receiver corps.

According to Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune the Bears have signed Greg Herd:

“… the Chicago Bears added wide receiver Greg Herd to the mix. What is unclear at this point is whose spot on the 90-man roster Herd will take. The Bears announced the signing late Tuesday and Herd also published a photo of himself signing a contract on Instagram.”

At 6’3″ and 200 pounds Herd should fit in well with the Bears’ current stable of giant wideouts. Alshon Jeffery and Brandon Marshall both measure in at 6’4″. Herd spent some time with the Dallas Cowboys and Seattle Seahawks last year during training camp, but has not seen action in a live NFL game.

The team also confirmed that it worked out Santonio Holmes:
