Steelers Mailbag: Ryan Shazier gets the start at LB over Vince Williams

Pittsburgh Steelers fans, it’s time to answer more of your questions.

Let’s get to it!

What do you make of Dick LeBeau starting his first rookie ever in Ryan Shazier?

Shazier is turning heads in the early stages of training camp

Personally, I’m a little wary of the move.

Then again, I’m not a Hall-of-Fame defensive coach/player now am I?

I thought that then-rookie Vince Williams played admirably in relief of the injured Larry Foote. He looked like the prototypical Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker, you know.

Just a big, run-stuffer.

But apparently this Shazier kid is blazing fast.

And don’t forget, so to is his partner in the middle, Lawrence Timmons. Both those linebackers can fly.

I’m going to defer to Mr. LeBeau in this situation and I’ll have peace of mind knowing that Williams is ready at the drop of a hat.
