Houston Texans training camp: Defense impresses on Day 9

For the Houston Texans, their training camp has been dominated by the young players, including Jadeveon Clowney and DeAndre Hopkins.

On Day 9, it was the defense that had its day, according to John Harris of the Texans official site.

He pointed out that defensive end Jared Crick batted down a pass, and J.J. Watt knocked one down too. Harris stated that ¬†“the defense was the clear winner.”

Also, DeAndre Hopkins was being used in plenty of reverse and trick plays, and his ability to run all of them really impressed Harris at camp.

Ryan Fitzpatrick was throwing sidearms a few times, the way Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford throws, which also caught many eyes there. Rookie quarterback out of Pittsburgh, Tom Savage, got some reps in. He looked solid out there, but nothing spectacular.

Overall, a rather uneventful day for the Texans at training camp, with no particular players grabbing the headlines.
