Arizona Cardinals star defensive lineman Darnell Dockett was carted off the field during today’s practice, according to Pro Football Talk, via Paola Boivin of the Arizona Republic.
According to a report on KTAR-FM, Dockett’s injury is to his right knee and he is scheduled to undergo an MRI tomorrow to find out what happened to it. Dockett has missed only two games in 10 years and is a three-time Pro Bowl player.
Said nose tackle Dan Williams, per the club’s website: “It was a routine play and Darnell was going hard,” he said. “I don’t know the extent of the injury, but it’s part of football. His foot just got stuck in the ground. We’ll just have to wait and see.”
We’re not going to speculate on the nature of the injury but Williams’ quote makes this seem serious. Don’t be surprised if Dockett misses serious time, maybe even the season.
