One of the big questions coming into the Philadelphia Eagles’ second preseason game was how rookie wide receiver Jordan Matthews would respond after having an up-and-down debut against the Chicago Bears the previous week.

In that game Matthews had a few drops and looked a bit out of his element, particularly in the second half. Against the Patriots on Friday night Matthews was much sharper.

Here is a video of each of his nine catches during the game:

Matthews admitted after the Bears game that he pressed and may have tried to do too much, but this week he says he felt much more relaxed on the field and the end result showed.

The rookie led all Eagles receivers with 104 total yards, averaging 11.6 yards per catch.

Next up for Philly will be the Pittsburgh Steelers, who they will host on Thursday night at Lincoln Financial Field.
