Matt Ryan of the Atlanta Falcons is a solid quarterback. If you were to ask most people to rank their top ten at the position in the NFL, the sane ones would all place him somewhere on that list.
But Ryan is at the very top of another prestigious list. According to an article by Kurt Badenhausen in Forbes magazine, Ryan earned a total of $43.8 million between June 2013 and 2014. No other player in the league earned as much over the same time period:

“Ryan signed a five-year, $103.75 million contract last year with the Falcons that included a $28 million signing bonus and a $12 million option bonus paid in March 2014. The $20.75 million average annual value was the second highest in the NFL at the time behind only Rodgers’ deal (Kaepernick has since surpassed Ryan’s annual average). Matty Ice bolsters his playing income with nearly $2 million a year from appearances, memorabilia and sponsors Nike, Comcast and Liquid Nutrition.”
Other players made more in base salary and guaranteed money, but when it’s all tallied up Ryan is the richest man in the league.
Take that, Breesy.
