On Thursday night the Pittsburgh Steelers took quite a beating from the Philadelphia Eagles. Their offense looked out of sync for much of the game and they did not look sharp on either side of the ball.
Most distressing for Steelers fans had to be the fact that the Eagles played more physically.
This epic hit by Eagles linebacker DeMeco Ryans on Le’Veon Bell in the first quarter helped set the tone for a game that promised to be a painful one for Pittsburgh. Check it out:

There was a 15 yard penalty called on the play, but in my opinion that’s a small price to pay for a hit like that early in the game that establishes your team’s willingness to play a physical brand of football. The Steelers offense looked sluggish and timid through much of the first half, and I believe Philly’s aggressive style played a role in that.
It was a rough couple of days for Bell leading up to the hit. On Wednesday night he and fellow running back LeGarrette Blount were arrested for possession of marijuana. Bell had to pay his own way to be on time for the game in Philly.
At least it wasn’t the biggest hit he’d taken this week.
