San Francisco 49ers cut roster down to 75 players

The San Francisco 49ers waived/released seven players Monday to cut the roster down to 75. NFL teams must cut their rosters to 75 men by Tuesday at 4:00 EST.

The list of the seven players cut are as follows:

QB McLeod Bethel-Thompson
S D.J. Campbell
TE Kevin Greene
RB Jewel Hampton
P Colton Schmidt
LB Kion Wilson
WR Devon Wylie

Released (vested veteran)
WR David Reed

The players below made the roster but must sit out the first six games, but they are eligible to return after that.

NFI list
RB Marcus Lattimore
FB Trey Millard
CB Keith Reaser
OG Brandon Thomas

PUP list
LB NaVorro Bowman
TE Garrett Celek
DT Kaleb Ramsey

The 49ers are now left with three quarterbacks and it will be interesting to see what the 49ers do with Blaine Gabbert and Josh Johnson.

Most of the waived players were not much of a surprise, but the next roster cut this weekend, that has to get the 49ers roster down to 53 players, will be very tough for the coaching staff to make and the players to hear.
