Let’s take a look at possible landing spots for kicker Jay Feely after he was cut by the team yesterday. There are no reports confirming his connection to any of these teams as of press time so this is more logical speculation.
Denver: They need a kicker with Matt Prater being suspended for the first four games for violating the league’s substance abuse policy. There might be salary cap issues with bringing a veteran in for four games then cutting him.
Miami: Caleb Sturgis only hit 76 percent of his field goals (26 of 34) last season and that doesn’t cut it.
Houston: Randy Bullock hasn’t really gotten the job done there and posted the same numbers as Sturgis. He could follow the path of former Cardinal Neil Rackers going from the desert to the Texans.
Tennessee: The Titans let go of longtime kicker Rob Bironas and are going with an unknown rookie in Maikon Bonani or second-year player Travis Coons. Ken Whisenhunt also coaches the Titans now.
Detroit: David Akers wasn’t good last season (19 of 24) and Feely is a Michigan native.
