David Fales will outplay Johnny Manziel

Tonight’s the final preseason game. The Bears are visiting the Cleveland Browns and will hand the keys to the offense over to rookie quarterback David Fales.

Fales hasn’t had too many reps this preseason so it will be a good chance for Bears fans to get a good look of the potential future backup. There is also a good chance he outplays fellow rookie Johnny Manziel.

In head coach Marc Trestman’s offense, Fales will focus on getting rid of the football quickly with a series of three step drops and short timing routes. He should be fairly accurate tonight against the Browns’ second and third string defensive players.

Manziel on the other hand, will struggle against the Bears’ younger and athletic linebackers who are all vying for a roster spot tonight. The Bears’ back up secondary has actually played well this preseason and they could get a few takeaways from Manziel.

Along with the rookie quarterback battle tonight, look for the Bears to hopefully find a return man, final wide receivers and settle this linebacker race once and for all. This isn’t a complete throw away game as there are plenty of spots on the line going into Saturday’s final cut.
