Patriots got a surprise gift in the Logan Mankins trade from Buccaneers

The trade that brought Logan Mankins to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers earlier this week has their fans understandably excited. Mankins may be past his prime, but he still represents a major upgrade for Tampa’s offensive line, which is likely to be the team’s biggest weakness this coming season.

But in order to get you have to give – and somebody had to go in order to make room for Mankins.

That turned out to be tight end Tim Wright, who caught 54 passes on 76 targets last year and scored five touchdowns for the Buccaneers. Not too bad for a rookie and it’s easy to see why the Patriots would want him with their tight end situation as it is. To sweeten the pot, one Bucs fan edited Mankins’ Wikipedia page to throw in an extra gift for the Patriots.
