San Francisco 49ers Aldon Smith suspended 9 games

San Francisco 49ers star outside linebacker Aldon Smith has been suspended nine games by the NFL.

After weeks of waiting and bracing for a 6-8 game suspension, Aldon Smith will be eligible to return Week 11 against the New York Giants.

The NFL’s Director of NFC football broke the news.

Ed Werder of ESPN also provided some more information.

The past two years have been a bit rough for Smith as he has had a lot of off the field issues. Yelling “bomb” at LAX Airport, a DUI, felony gun charges (which were dropped to misdemanors), and was sentenced to 12 days in jail.

The 49ers are going to have a hard time replacing him as Harbaugh stated that he has been having a great camp and seems quite unstoppable.

After seeing Baltimore Raven’s running back Ray Rice receive only a two game suspension and Clevelend Brown’s wide receiver receive a full year suspension fans and coaches alike had no idea what to expect.

There is one good piece of news to get out of this suspension. Smith will be able to play in both games agains the Seattle Seahawks in Week 13 at home and Week 15 in Seattle.
