After Houston Texans star defensive end J.J. Watt signed a massive six-year extension worth $100 million on Monday night, he commented on the contract.
It should be a reminder to all athletes and fans that money isn’t everything.
“Money doesn’t motivate me, greatness does. I’m so fortunate I don’t have to worry about the money, so I can just focus on the greatness,” he said, according to the Houston Chronicle.
As if Watt wasn’t liked enough. He’s a class act on and off the field, and reminded the Texans and their fans that not all athletes go for the money.
Now, Watt still has to live up to the massive contract the team gave him. He’s being paid like the 2012 version, where he had 20.5 sacks and 16 passes defended, now it’s time to prove he’s worth that much.
