An optimist predicts each game in the New York Giants' 2014 season

Game by Game Predictions for the New York Giants

Week 1: @ Detroit

The offensive line struggles to contain the dominant defensive front of the Lions and they allow two sacks and force Eli to throw a pick in the first half. The defense plays fairly well, stunting the run game, but still allows a late first half touchdown pass to Megatron and the Giants fall behind by two touchdowns at halftime 17-3. In the second half the screen game clicks for the Giants and Rashad Jennings ends up with over 150 total yards from scrimmage including a touchdown reception. However, a second interception thrown by Manning late in the game ends the comeback and the Giants lose their third consecutive season opener. Loss: 23-21 (0-1)

Week 2: vs Arizona

The Giants benefit from an NFC West team traveling east to play in the early time slot. The Giants offense still struggles but the team still manages to steal a win from a good Cardinal team thanks to two Carson Palmer interceptions, including a pick six by former Cardinal Antrel Rolle. Win: 20-19 (1-1)

Week 3: vs Houston

The Giants offensive line gets another tough, early test from a strong defensive line. Despite Jadaveon Clowney and J.J. Watt each recording a sack, the offense is still able to manage some big plays for scores. The defense forces plenty pressure of its own as Ryan Fitzpatrick struggles to protect the ball and the Giants force four turnovers. Win: 27-10 (2-1)

Week 4: @ Washington

Washington also enters the Thursday night match up off to a hot start at 2-1. The first divisional match up for both teams is a defensive battle throughout and the game goes to overtime. The Giants get the ball first but are forced to punt and DeSean Jackson returns it deep inside Giants territory and they lose on a chip shot field goal. Loss 16-13 (2-2)
